 Gov Jim Doyle

January 18, 2008

After Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf of Mexico in 2005 and energy costs skyrocketed, I realized that energy costs were going to continue to be a burden for hardworking Wisconsin families.  We worked to increase heating assistance and weatherization programs and created this Website to provide one-stop information on programs to help Wisconsin families heat, cool and weatherize their homes. Even now, in 2008, energy issues continue to be a priority.

I’m working with other governors in the Midwest to lower our dependence on foreign oil and to address global warming while keeping energy affordable.  Our goal is to develop new energy technologies using home grown energy from our fields and forests to provide for our energy needs and to create high-paying jobs.  As part of these efforts we will continue to be a national leader in providing energy conservation assistance, weatherization and financial assistance.

No Wisconsin family should be forced to decide between putting food on the table and heating their home.  I encourage you to take advantage of the programs and resources found on this Website throughout the year.

Sincerely,

 Gov Jim Doyle
